Week 2 - Useful websites

Tagxedo (http://www.tagxedo.com)

I experimented with Tagxedo, similar to Wordle, to create the image below. Children could use this in the primary classroom to note keywords for a particular topic. This would create a colourful, enlarged image full of all the key information, making it easier and more appealing for children to refer back to. A positive of this website, it that it could be used across the curriculum, so is very multifunctional.

Seussville Story Maker  (www.seussville.com/games_hb/storymaker/story_maker.html)

This website is particularly good for introducing children to basic story making. It provides children with a context, hook and characters to make them engaged in their learning. Children are able to choose characters for each scene, as well as a background and music, thus making the activity interactive and children can personalise their work. I would use this in a literacy lesson for an upper KS1 class or a lower KS2 class, to teach them how to appropriately use dialogue and create speech between characters.
